Portsmouth, N.H., April 4, 2012 – Calypso Communications, one of the only truly integrated, full-service public relations, marketing, and graphic design firms in Northern New England, announced progress on significant development milestones for its partly owned venture, Strategic Carbon LLC (www.strategic-carbon.com).

Strategic Carbon, incorporated in 2011 in Delaware, is an early stage science-based consulting firm focused on securing economic advantages for government and private organizations in energy exploration, deep ocean sediment carbon sequestration, and ecosystem health.

Calypso owner Kevin Stickney, one of three founding principals for Strategic Carbon, announced the firm is quickly preparing for commercial operations in early 2013. Recent developments include the creation of a Global Academic Collaboration that will support Strategic Carbon’s research, laboratory, and development efforts. In early 2012, company founders visited candidate institutions in Hawaii, Texas, and the greater Washington D.C area, and will visit additional universities in Europe and New Zealand this year. These collaborations will ultimately engage institutions that offer unique skills, services, and resources for Strategic Carbon, while simultaneously participating in the development and experiential learning associated with launching a full-scale commercial energy and environmental enterprise.

According to Strategic Carbon then co-founder and principal Ross Downer, “We’re excited to formalize relationships with leading institutions that will help us refine the important science and technology fundamental to Strategic Carbon and advance the understanding of carbon-based ecosystem and energy management.” Mr. Downer also serves as General Manager of Milbar Hydro-Test (www.milbarhydro-test.com), the largest and most experienced hydrostatic testing contractor in the world and a key provider to pipeline, oil, and gas industries.

Strategic Carbon will focus on providing new energy, carbon sequestration, and remediation data to government and private organizations worldwide. Privately funded, the company is reviewing opportunities for consulting contracts to begin in 2013. Calypso will continue to provide web development, strategic public relations, investor communications, and design services for Strategic Carbon. “This is an exciting stage for the new firm,” said Stickney. “Energy, the environment, and entrepreneurial vision are all at the center of Calypso’s history and success.”
