Strategic Carbon Adds Preeminent Geophysicist to Team

Dr. Ingo Pecher from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, has joined Strategic Carbon as Strategic Advisor, Geophysics. Dr. Pecher is recognized as a world leader in gas hydrate exploration with a strong background in seismic data acquisition and interpretation and coastal ocean floor geological assessment. This expansion and integration with Dr. Coffin’s geochemical expertise provides SC with extensive state-of-the-art capability in offshore gas hydrate and exploration. They have combined their geophysical, geochemical, and geologic expertise to assess gas hydrate loading, continental plate compression, and vertical fluid gas and fluid advection and diffusion along the eastern coast of New Zealand since 2006.  Recent data provides data indicating gas hydrates do not exist where geophysical assessment predicted current and past gas hydrate deposits. Further understanding is being developed with a collaborative International Offshore Drilling Program bid for assessment of deep system CO2 loading.  This program has been initiated with expertise at the University of Auckland, University of Southern California, Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi and Strategic Carbon.
