Strategic Carbon Signs Agreement with DeepGEO for Scientific Expertise in Developing Global Nuclear Waste Repositories

September 25, 2025 – Corpus Christi, Texas, USA: Strategic Carbon (SC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the global enterprise, DeepGEO, Inc., to collaborate in the development of advanced nuclear waste repositories in several countries. DeepGEO is developing these commercial, multinational repositories for the disposal of spent nuclear fuel and other high-level radioactive waste with thoroughly sustainable plans. The Company has local teams in Canada, Africa, and Finland that are currently conducting public outreach, stakeholder engagement, and early-stage permitting and business development.

Strategic Carbon will contribute to this global effort with expert guidance on several levels, lending DeepGEO its extensive background and knowledge of the water and aquatic impacts of large underground storage facilities and helping to create formal Environmental Impact Studies for these repositories. Strategic Carbon also brings a broad range of new technology, such as the Harmonic Frequency Cascade (HFC) water purification system SC (patented with CoaCtusTM) for water remediation projects that may be part of DeepGEO’s future infrastructure projects. DeepGEO aims to utilize HFC technology to enhance its own operations and, in future initiatives, to remediate legacy pollution in its host communities. SC and DeepGEO also will jointly explore the commercialization of a full nuclear desalination option for potential use with nuclear energy projects utilizing HFC technology.

As part of the MOU, SC will support DeepGEO and its subsidiaries in applying geologic sequestration systems and technologies, while also establishing a collaborative partnership focused on advancing public education and engagement on nuclear waste management and the safe geological disposal of spent nuclear fuel. Additionally, SC and DeepGEO will assist each other in exploring investment opportunities that focus on deep ocean storage, evaluating waste residence time monitoring and prediction, acquiring energy from secondary radiation waste, and the application of patented water recovery technology.

SC co-founders and lead scientists, Dr. Richard Coffin and Dr. Hussain Abdulla, are deeply experienced in the geologic, chemical, and environmental assessments facing DeepGEO’s core development goals. Most recently, SC was contracted by Woodward & Curran to review transport and fate for mine-sourced uranium relative to natural background values at the Jackpile-Paguate Uranium Mine Superfund Site in New Mexico, where the firm investigated uranium concentration, speciation, and isotope ratios to determine a source contribution in different geologic formations. The data will help assess potential uranium transport and trapping from the site relative to natural background contribution. SC staff is also experienced in creating and managing comprehensive community relations and public education efforts for worldwide energy and environmental projects. This combination of science and communications expertise will measurably assist DeepGEO in its global developments.
